Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder in women. In this condition, a woman’s body starts producing male hormones called androgens in excess, due to which the problem of hormonal imbalance in the body comes to the fore. 

This condition disrupts the normal menstrual cycle and can also cause ovarian cysts. Symptoms of PCOS are like weight gain, pimples, facial hair, etc. Insulin resistance is also a common problem in PCOS. Insulin resistance occurs when cells are unable to use insulin properly. 

It also becomes difficult for a woman to conceive in the condition of PCOS. Women who have PCOS have to face complications during pregnancy as well. However, despite suffering from PCOS, women can control PCOS and become pregnant by making changes in their diet and lifestyle. 

The following foods may be included in the PCOS diet – 

1. Natural and unprocessed foods

2.High fiber foods

3.Fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerel 

4.Kale, Spinach, and Other Dark, Leafy Greens

5.Dark red fruits such as red grapes, blueberries, blackberries, and cherries

6.Broccoli and Cauliflower

7.Dried beans, lentils, and other legumes

8.Healthy fats like olive oil, avocado and coconut

9.Nuts such as walnuts, almonds and pistachios

10.Dark chocolate

11.Spices, such as turmeric and cinnamon

What not to eat in PCOS:

1. Processed carbohydrates such as cakes, biscuits 

2. Fried foods such as fast food

3. High-sugar beverages such as soda
